Fatal car accident leads to criminal charges

Massachusetts residents may have heard news of a recent car crash in Gloucester. The fatal car accident took place on a recent Saturday evening, and ended the life of a 52-year-old Ipswich woman. Charges have now been filed against the driver who struck the car in which the deceased was a passenger.

Police believe that a 52-year-old woman was driving along Essex Avenue when she slammed into another vehicle. That car was driven by an off-duty state police officer, and carrying the 52-year-old woman who was killed in the crash. There is no mention of injuries sustained by either driver involved in the crash.

The driver of the first vehicle has been charged with negligent operation of a motor vehicle. She also faces charges of driving on a suspended license and a marked lane violation. As the investigation moves forward, additional charges are possible.

The family of the Massachusetts woman killed in this fatal car accident is likely seeking answers concerning the events that led to the death of their loved one. This incident may be especially hard to understand given the knowledge that the woman whom police believe caused the crash was driving without a valid license at the time. Should they choose to move forward with a civil suit for wrongful death, they stand to recover damages associated with their loss. While nothing can bring back their loved one, a civil suit can help offset the costs brought on by this tragedy, and can also serve as an additional measure of justice in the matter.
